WeAre8 Advertising Policies apply to all WeAre8 paid advertising campaigns. Advertisers on WeAre8 are responsible for their ads complying with all applicable laws and regulations that apply to the target region, being honest about the products or services the ad is promoting, creating truthful ads, and advertising safely.

In addition, advertisers must also comply with the WeAre8 Terms and Conditions and Community Guidelines, and all other WeAre8 policies governing the use of our services. Our advertising policies are listed below. These policies are designed to ensure a safe and positive environment for the 8Community.

The advertising policies are updated periodically. Please check this page often to ensure to always be up to date on our latest advertising policy requirements.

General Info

Ad Review Process

The turnaround time for ad review is typically less than 24 hours, although it may take longer in some cases. The ad review process involves vetting the products/services promoted, ad caption, text, images, audio, visuals, age/region targeting, and landing pages. In order to run on the platform, all ad creatives should be compliant with all advertising policies.

Steps to Take if Disapproved

If your ad is disapproved for not fully complying with our policies, you can edit it and resubmit for review. To edit your ad:

  • Check the ad details of the disapproval reason in your ad group "suggestions".
  • Using the information in your disapproval reason, you can edit your ad and create a compliant one.
  • Save your edited changes. Once you save your changes, your ad will be resubmitted for review in less than 24 hours. In some cases, it may take longer.

Ad Creatives

Landing Page Requirements

To be in line with our effort to improve our 8Communities experience on WeAre8, advertisements must comply with the following guidelines:

a. To ensure the best experience for our 8Citizens, when they are led to the landing page, the landing page must work properly.

  • ❌ Landing pages that have errors or are expired, or sites under construction.
  • ❌ Landing pages with incomplete content on the web pages.
  • ❌ Landing pages that are not mobile-friendly.
  • ❌ Landing pages with the browser's back button disabled.
  • ❌ Landing pages which automatically download files to the person's mobile phone.
  • ❌ Landing pages which require people to download additional programs or input personal information to access the main content on the landing pages.
  • ✅ Ads direct the citizen to the Google Play Store or App Store to download the app, the official website of the product or service, or the page of the product advertised.

b. Ads must not display prohibited products on the landing page.

c. E-commerce ads must display valid information on the landing pages. The information required by local law includes, but is not limited to, the advertiser's contact details, company name, company address, business license, local currency price display, terms & conditions, shipping info, privacy policy, returns policy, and refund policy.

d. Lead Ads must contain a Privacy Policy on landing page, and must not request sensitive personal information on the instant form created by advertisers. The sensitive personal information include, but is not limited to Personal identity information, financial or insurance information, network identity information, health physiological information, biometric information, etc.

Ad Language

The ad targeting region is a single region and the ad “setting language” is a single language: The language of the ad creative and landing page needs to be consistent with the setting language or accepted language of the ad targeting region. For example, the acceptable language for ad targeting in the United Kingdom is English.

Ad Text, Video & Image

  • The ad text must not contain a spelling or grammar mistake, cause an undesirable experience, or use symbols incorrectly among the letters.
  • The ad image must not contain blurry, unclear, unrecognizable visuals, or use columns/pixels to intentionally partially cover images.
  • The ad image and video must be legible and of a high resolution.
  • The ad video duration must be 5 seconds minimum and 2 minutes maximum.
  • The ad audio must not be of a poor quality, such as containing unclear or unrecognizable sounds, and the information which appears in the content must be understandable.

Ad Language

Ads must adhere to the Terms and Conditions and Community Guidelines of WeAre8.

Ads must not display, facilitate, or promote services or activities considered as illegal in a given jurisdiction.

Ads must not display or promote prescription or recreational drugs, or accessories associated with drug use such as bongs, rolling papers, or vaporized delivery devices.

Ads must not display or promote the use of dangerous weapons, ammunition, or explosives in real life, including, but not limited to, guns, explosives, bombs, or other objects that are designed to cause harm to individuals.

Ads must not display or promote tobacco, tobacco-related products such as cigars, tobacco pipes, rolling papers, or e-cigarettes, or smoking-related behaviour in real life, including, but not limited to, alternatives which imitate the act of smoking.

Ads must not reference, promote or oppose a candidate for the public office, current or former political leader, political party, or political organization. They must not contain content that advocates a stance (for or against) on a local, state, or federal issue of public importance in order to influence a political outcome. 

Ads must not display negative content regarding the military or police symbols, sensitive military events, militarism, the advocating or whitewashing of war, unlawful elements, etc.

Ads must not contain hate speech against a protected group, individual, or organization based on race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, family status, or medical or genetic condition, etc.

Ads must not display or promote the use of prohibited adult products or services. Ads must not display sexual activities or behaviours that are overly suggestive or sexually provocative as well as full, partial or implied nudity.

Ads must not display excessively visible skin exposure of a male or female, even if not explicitly sexual in nature. Ads must not focus on individual sensitive body parts. Ads must not display elements related to WeAre8 without WeAre8's permission.

Ads must not display content that infringes or violates the rights of any third party, including, but not limited to; trademarks, logos, brands, service marks, trade names or other personal or proprietary rights.

Ads must not display or promote counterfeit products.

Ads must not contain an exaggerated performance promise concerning a product's effect.

Ads must not display exaggerated descriptions or absolute claims without related proof.

Ads must not contain a malicious comparison with other brands.

Ads must not contain invalid buttons, induced gestures, or text (buttons/gestures/text that portray unsupported functionality).

We expect advertisers to disclose all associated fees, premium rate services and billing practices to our 8Community in accordance with local laws and regulations. Ads must disclose full details of the cost of using the promoted product or service. We reserve the right to remove ads that violate this policy. (Only applied to CA/EU/US)

Sensational and Shocking Content

a. Ads must not display bloody or gruesome imagery or graphic images that are likely to shock or scare.

  • ❌ A crime scene or images of accidents.
  • ❌ A horror scene or bloody stills.

b. Ads must not contain disgusting imagery that may cause an uncomfortable experience.

  • ❌ Visuals of sexual fluids, or human or animal waste.
  • ❌ Visuals that show dirt coming out of pores of the face or hair being pulled out of the drainage.

c. Ads must not contain content that displays crime, excessive violence, cruelty, or gratuitous violence towards animals.

  • ❌ Ads displaying real fighting with bloody scenes.
  • ❌ Ads displaying animal cruelty, such as cock or dog fighting.

d. Ads must not display dangerous behaviours without safety protection.

e. Ads must not contain violent language or insulting actions.

Data Collection

Ads must guarantee that any personal information which is collected in the ad is collected and processed securely and in accordance with local laws and that the privacy policy should be accessible to any individual whose data is being collected and processed.

Restricted Content


a. Ads must not display, facilitate, or promote online gambling with real money or simulated gambling which features the depositing and withdrawal of money, and must not portray or encourage gambling-related behaviour.

b. Ads must not display, facilitate, or promote lotteries that use real money or sports/horse race betting in some specific ad targeting regions.

Religion and Culture

a. Ads must not feature disrespectful actions involving or towards religious buildings, religious symbols, or a malicious comparison of religions.

b. Ads must not display content that violates the local culture of the ad targeting regions.

Protection of Minors

a. Ads must not display, facilitate or promote inappropriate behaviors involving minors, such as underage drinking or underage smoking.

b. Ads must not display excessive skin exposure of minors.

c. Ads must not influence minors to participate in unsuitable activities, such as buying lottery tickets.

d. Ads must not display or promote products/games appealing to minors in some specific ad targeting regions.

Weight control/management - Only applied to CA/EU/US

a. Ads should not promote an unhealthy body image or an unhealthy relationship with food.

b. Ads must not display excessive skin exposure of minors.

c. Ads for dieting and other weight management products must prepare claims with a sense of responsibility; avoiding promises that the product alone, without diet or exercise can lead to weight loss; performance exaggerations; or suggestions that losing weight is easy, or guaranteed. Ads should not reference specific calories, or specific amounts of weight loss.

Prohibited Products or Services

Please note that the list may vary from time to time in accordance with local laws.
Ads promoting the following products or services are prohibited:

  • Cigarettes and Tobacco products - Cigarettes, cigars, tobacco, e-cigarettes, and other related products and services.
  • Drug-related products and services - Ads that depict or encourage the use of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, recreational drugs, prescription drugs, drugs, or weight loss/management supplements (including fat burning pills, appetite suppressants, weight loss/detox teas or lollipops)
  • Weapons - Use of dangerous weapons, including guns, explosives, knives, swords and other objects that are designed to cause harm to individuals.
  • Police and military equipment.
  • Gambling - Including online gambling, casinos, sports betting, promoting fantasy, bingo, lotteries, or other gambling related content.
  • Sexual products and services - Adult entertainment and paraphernalia including pornography, sex toys, lubricants, and fetish costumes.
  • Political ads- Ads must not reference, promote, or oppose a candidate for public office, current or former political leader, political party, or political organization. They must not contain content that advocates a stance (for or against) on a local, state, or federal issue of public importance in order to influence a political outcome.
  • Counterfeit goods.
  • Products and services that enable dishonest behavior - Products that may infringe upon individual privacy, products that may steal other people's personal information, products that may infringe upon a third party's properties, products that may steal other people's properties, or products or services assisting with falsification.
  • Age restricted ads - products or services that are specifically intended for or appeal to children including toys, games, apps, and clothing. Advertisements marketed specifically toward children, even if the product may be for a general audience, are also prohibited.
  • Animals- Buying or selling animals, live animals, livestock, and pets. Animal body parts/products from Rhino, Orangutan, Elephant, endangered or threatened animals including but not limited to organs, horns, ivory, bone, skin, fur, wool, leather, or teeth.
  • Exception:
    • Products for animals (toys, clothes, collars, cages, food, etc).
    • Pet services such as dog walking, pet care, pet cafes, pet grooming, training, etc.
    • Advertising content related to the adoption of animals is permitted for NGOs, NPOs, and stray animal shelters (no adoption services to be promoted for high breed pets or any invitation to join into mix-breeding of pets).
  • Financial services - promoting single securities or other tradable financial assets, bail bonds, debt assistance programs, get rich quick schemes, pyramid schemes (including non-financial pyramid schemes) and multi-level marketing, penny auctions, binary options, cryptocurrency wallets, unaccredited digital banks that perform any traditional bank-like function, cryptocurrency credit or debit cards, initial coin offerings, token sales, or other means of promotion or advertisement of individual digital currencies or tokens.
  • Other prohibited products or services- International brides, hazardous chemical products, trading of human organs and transplants, abortion, services of prenatal sex determination, HIV testing kits, protected wildlife and wild flora, funeral services.

Restricted Products or Services

The following list includes products or services that WeAre8 may allow at its discretion if the qualification and content complies with all applicable laws, rules and regulations. Please note that this list may vary. The advertiser is responsible for the content of its advertisements and the products or services advertised. Possession of a license does not automatically mean that the promoted service/product will immediately be accepted, and all ads will still be subject to our ad review process.

  • Financial Services - Ads must comply with applicable laws, regulations, licensing obligations, and industry requirements. For all ads within this category, we may ask for disclosures and evidence from appropriate regulators and/or third-party accreditations or certifications. Ads may only target people aged 18+ and must include proper disclaimers.
  • Food and Drinks - Ads promoting foods or drinks which are classed as high in fat, salt or sugar (HFSS), as identified using nutrient profiling, may be subject to restrictions. Ads may only target people aged 18+ and must include proper disclaimers.
  • Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare, Medicines - Ads for pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and medicines must target people aged 18+ and comply with local laws of the target country. Ads promoting over-the-counter drugs must be approved by the regional regulating authority and may not contain misleading or inaccurate claims. We do allow advertisements for brick and mortar pharmacies and online pharmacies that are certified by a third-party licensing organization such as the GPhC or regional equivalent. Proof of licensing may be necessary for approval.
  • Weapons - Use of dangerous weapons, including guns, explosives, knives, swords and other objects that are designed to cause harm to individuals.
  • Ads for condoms must not focus on sexual pleasure or be overtly sexual in nature. Ads for condoms should not include a call to action e.g. "you should have sex now".
  • Dating Applications or Services - Ads that promote dating applications or services must target people aged 18+. Such ads must not be overtly sexual or reference transactional companionship or cheating. Dating ads should not be sexually suggestive in nature (e.g. focusing on bodies, sexual language or innuendo, etc.)
  • Media and Entertainment - Ads that promote films, TV shows, or games must not contain profanity and crude language, sexually suggestive language or images, graphic violence, or drug use, and must be targeted at the appropriate age group.
